I reflect a lot on this. I am from London, married to a non-wealthy Cuban, lived in Havana for years and now in Spain. My sister lives here too, married to her also English wealthy husband. They call themselves expats. I don't see myself as one. We don't live the same, we move in different circles, I'm more comfortable in the Latino and Spanish community, our kid goes to public school, we struggled financially at the start while setting up and my husband earns minimum wage. We may or may not stay here long-term, same as my sister. Maybe a Spaniard would see us as expats anyway, but I don't. It's a fine line and definitely wealth and schooling plays its part
